My name is Niamh, and I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with adult women and aim to provide a calm, supportive space where you can slow down, feel heard, and reconnect with yourself.
My Approach
I specialise in an integrative approach that incorporates various therapeutic models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Person-Centred Therapy. This integrative method enables me to tailor my sessions to meet the unique needs of each client, allowing for a wide range of presenting issues to be addressed. The therapeutic journey I offer is client-led, meaning you set the pace and direction of each session. To ensure best practice in my work, I engage in my own personal therapy and receive regular clinical supervision.
Who I Work With
I work primarily with adult women who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from themselves. Many of the women I support are thoughtful and capable yet struggle internally with self-doubt or emotional pressure.
I support women experiencing:
• Anxiety and overthinking
• Low self-esteem and self-worth difficulties
• Self-care
• Emotional overwhelm
• Burnout
• Relationship challenges
• Life transitions
• Grief and bereavement
I offer a space where these experiences can be explored gently and at your own pace. Session are held remotely or in person at Little Island, Cork.
My Training & Qualifications
My introduction to therapy began during my teenage years when I faced challenges with anxiety and depression. Experiencing the transformative effects of therapy firsthand ignited my passion for this field. I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education while working in daycare centres and as a preschool teacher. After moving to the United Arab Emirates, I worked as a primary school teacher for two years. Upon returning home, I fulfilled my lifelong ambition of training as a therapist by studying for a Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy in Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences. I chose to study an integrative approach to combine the strengths of different therapy models. During my student placement, I supported parents of children with ADHD, autism, and dyspraxia and worked with mothers navigating the emotional and practical demands of parenting. It was during this time that I realised how important accessible remote therapy can be for women. I am currently studying a certification in Women’s Mental Health Specialist to deepen my knowledge and support for women.
Having attended therapy myself, I bring a valuable perspective as a client. I understand that taking that first step toward seeking help can be daunting. I offer a compassionate and empathic space for exploration, whether through in-person sessions or online therapy.
